bar san calisto | rome

Bar San Calisto is Trastevere. This extremely simple bar is the essence of what is left of the authentic Trastevere, which unfortunately is becoming increasingly dominated by tourism.

San Calisto lies in the heart of Trastevere, a few steps from the main square Santa Maria in Trastevere. Actually this is just an ordinary Italian bar, where you can get coffee, ice cream, alcohol, etc. Here are tables outside, and the place is often full of people in the evenings when young people grab a quick beer before going out. Inside the walls are covered with Roma pictures, so you have no doubts about which side the owner is on when it comes to football. The clientele is probably one of the most mixed ones in Rome. It is true Roman atmosphere, and the drinks are cheap. Try it!

Piazza San Calisto 3-5. T. +39 06 5895678
