Rome's National Museum of Contemporary Art, Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, is located just outside Villa Borghese. Here you find a fantastic museum cafe and restaurant, Caffè delle Arti with an amazing outdoor terrace.
During summer it is wonderful to eat out here both for lunch and in the evening for dinner. You are far away from the noisy centre, and you can enjoy the fresh air while you eat your pasta and drink your cold white wine.
While you're here, you might as well take the opportunity to visit the museum's bookstore, where you find the best books on art, architecture, design and more. If you eat here in the evening, remember that it is not a good idea to take a shortcut through the park to get back to the centre. Villa Borghese is not a place where you should walk around after dark, unless you are a lot of people together. Better to grab a taxi.
