mercato di sant'ambrogio | florence

Hello dear readers,

Did you notice the new layout on the blog? I have tried to simplify everything, and I really hope you are going to like it. Don't hesitate to let me know what you think! And now today's post:

I love the market in Sant'Ambrogio. The other day I went there with my mum and daughter to have lunch at Enoteca dei Macci and to do a few shots of the gorgeous vegetables. This place is magical, and the atmosphere is so Italian, so Mediterranean.

This is a big traditional food, fruit and vegetable market (+ some not very interesting clothes and other non eatable stuff). Outside in the piazza you find the fruits and vegetables and inside is where you can buy fresh pasta + there are a few quite good eateries here. The area around the market is full of really good restaurants, pizzerias, trattorias, wine bars and osterias, and as it is always the case with markets in Italy, you have to go as early as possible in the morning in order to catch the real market atmosphere.

Sometimes Florence can seem a bit too touristic, and even though tourists do reach this market I always get a different feeling when I'm here, kind of like I'm on vacation myself and maybe I feel just a hint of the atmosphere you usually only get in small villages in the South of Italy. Sant'Ambrogio is definitely one of the most authentic places in Florence.
