kongens have | copenhagen

Kongens Have is probably the most popular park in the center of Copenhagen. This is where you can see ALL copenhageners as soon as the first ray of sunshine hits town in spring, this is where people sunbathe during summer, this is where families come with their kids to play, where you can have a picnic, where young people play football, and this is where you go after work just to have a beer and a cosy time with friends and colleagues.

Even though you can't use the park just as much during wintertime, it is still an amazing place to go, especially when snow starts falling. Around Christmas this is the perfect place to go for a walk, and kids love to come here to play around in the snow. The garden belongs to Rosenborg Castle and it is the oldest royal garden in Denmark.

There are several entrances to the garden e.g. in Gothersgade.

  1. This is a beautiful park, one of the first I visited when I was in CPH. I went during summer for sunbath and during autumn to see the beautiful colors of the tree leaves. Unluckily, I left CPH one day before the snow fell so I couldn't see the park full of snow...one thing more to see when I will come back :-)
I also visited Rosenborg castle, which is really beautiful and I took a photo in the rose garden next to Kongens Have.

I really want to say that the parks in Copenhagen (and I think generally in Denmark) are so green and so clean. People are so respectful, even if there are a lot of people who go there and eat or play as you said. This is one point among many, many others that I really appreciate in this country!

    1. I agree with you, Marie. Copenhagen is one of the cleanest cities in the world, I think. In Italy many people have no problem in throwing garbage in the street. I could never bring myself to do that. That's definitely a very positive thing about the Danish culture.
