If you like art, then a visit to the National Gallery of Denmark, in Danish called Statens Museum for Kunst, is a must. We went here during our visit in Copenhagen earlier this month.

The museum has several permanent collections as well as changing exhibitions of all kinds. The permanent exhibitions include art from a period of 700 years from early Renaissance to the latest contemporary art. Danish and Nordic art, French art, European art and much more. It's all here.

I really love this museum with its wonderful garden in front of and behind the building, where you can hang out on the many green lawns and enjoy the sun (when it's there!) As every museum with respect for itself, there is a lovely museum shop and of course a cafe, where you can grab a bite before or after your visit.

I'll be back with a second post about the famous kids art studio inside the museum. Coming soon!

  1. Love your blog and your pictures. I saw the Matisse exhibition at smk in october. I guess it may have finished by now, but was well worth the visit, and the permanent collection is great too.
