the metro | copenhagen

When visiting Copenhagen you absolutely must take a ride with the new metro. The Danish metro is from 2002 and was made by Italian AnsaldoBreda. Even though it seems to me that the Danes are always complaining about it, I find it fabulous. You get around really long distances in no time, the design is fantastic and the best of it: The metro is driverless, which means that you can sit in the front and look ahead while driving.

The metro is also the most easy way to get to and from Copenhagen Airport. It takes around 20 minutes to the center and trains depart constantly.

So do yourself a favor. Take the metro when in Copenhagen- just for the fun of it.

  1. I love the metro in CPH!! Actually it doesn't seem to be a metro. The rooms underground are big, clean and not crowded. The metro goes fast and sometimes it's in the open air and you can see the landscapes. It runs 24h/24 and 7/7. There are always people on the metro, even at 4 am. You can take your bike inside with you. And I really appreciate that there are windows that prevent people from falling on the tracks or committing suicide.
And I love sitting on the front, like I was in a rollercoaster hihi.
My metro stop was Fasanvej when I lived in CPH and I will always remember the woman's voice saying it; I can say that I know the right pronunciation of this word now! ;)

    1. Hahaha, at least you know one word perfect. Danish is not the easiest language for a foreigner! Thanks for always commenting, Marie :-)

  2. Wow. I'm so used to the subway in New York, with rats scurrying around and dank, dripping ceilings.. The metro in Copenhagen looks miraculously clean and shiny! I'm dying to visit Copenhagen, and a ride on the metro will be a must :)

    1. You have to visit Copenhagen soon! I just paid a visit to your beautiful blog, which I didn't know. I'm definitely going to follow it from now on. Your photos are beautiful and you write about two cities which I have only visited, before I started on photography and where I dream of coming back soon. (New York and Paris).
