Did you read my article in sisterMAG about Le tre stanze in Florence? If not you can see it HERE.

I had such a great time photographing this amazing space. The owner, Patrick, left me on my own, so I was completely free to do all the rooms without anyone disturbing me. It was the perfect photo session.

I have to say, it got me a bit hooked on doing more interiors, and I'm considering if it might be something to do in the future. What I don't like about interior photography (actually what I don't like about any kind of photography) is the styling.

When I went to do Le tre stanze, I got to photograph everything as it was, and that's why I loved it. I don't like to photograph something which has been styled and created just for the photo shoot. To me it's very false, very artificial, very untrue. It's cold and it's boring. I like to document things, people and spaces as they are.

Here are some of the photos, which didn't make it to the article. I thought you should see them anyway.

  1. Birgitte--

Had the pleasure of staying at Le Tre Stanze a few years back-- and Patrick was a perfect, congenial host. I love the informal, funkiness of the place, which you have captured perfectly in your photos.
Not sure what rooms are shown. The ones with the white cover on the sofa may actually be rooms for the hosts-- but then again, they may have added some new furnishings and rearranged since my visit.
Regardless, great job on the photos. Wish I were there, now! Perhaps in the Mansard Room, sitting on the patio, overlooking the Duomo with a glass of wine late afternoon.

  2. You have a great memory and eye :-) Indeed the the room with the sofa is for the hosts. I was allowed access all over the place and couldn't resist photographing it.
