So yesterday at 10 am I was ready on the stairs leading up to the new mercato centrale in San Lorenzo. Armed with my camera up I went and... may I just say:
WOW! This place is nothing less than amazing. Simply beautiful.
The first floor has been completely renovated but has maintained it's traditional look. As for the "content" to cut things short the concept is very much like Eataly with several different eateries, each of them specializing in their own thing: pizza, pasta, vegetables, tramezzini, meat, fish, cheese, ice cream and chocolate, buffalo mozzarella, wine etc.
Eataly actually has a little shop inside the market and I can see why. Because even though the concept is very similar to Eataly the mercato centrale is simply way more charming and beautiful. The location is stunning and every little detail from logos to furniture and lamps is just perfect. This is a place where everyone will want to be present.
Besides eating and drinking the market also has a cooking school and a wine school. You can buy all kinds of literature on food, freshly baked bread, fruits and vegetables and so many other things.
I can only recommend that you hurry up and visit the new mercato centrale. I seriously believe it is one of the most interesting things Florence has to offer right now and of course I went absolutely crazy with my camera. This is one photogenic place!
