the other rome

For many years I lived in a street in Rome called Viale Londra in a neighborhood called Ardeatina about seven chilometres outside the center of Rome.

I loved this area of Rome so much and I think it is where I have felt most at home at least while living abroad.

These photos were taken from my balcony. To one side I could see - far away- the center of Rome and to the other side I could see the modern Rome with new buildings.

The light would change from early in the morning to sunset. Sometimes there would be the most amazing fog. At the end of the street you could enter a field where sheeps were grassing and the nature was amazing.

I know that you are never going to feel what I feel when I look at these photos. They are special to me. But I bet you probably have your own place somewhere in the world which means the same to you as Viale Londra means to me.
