My parents are visiting and Sunday we jumped on the train to Pisa to have a walk around the city, see the tower and enjoy a nice lunch.
We hadn't planned ahead where to eat so we just jumped into the first place which seemed local enough for a decent lunch. Lucky us it turned out to be more than decent.
Osteria La Mescita is an old eatery which dates back to 1902. It's a combined osteria/trattoria and enoteca and everything is delicious. I chose the pici pasta with a sauce made of fresh cherry tomatoes and basil. It was perfect. A simple yet so tasty dish. We also ordered some fried vegetables which were absolutely delicious.
It's not exactly a cheap place to eat, but I think the prices correspond very well to the quality of the food and service was impeccable. Absolutely worth a try if you happen to be in Pisa for lunch.
I have a few more photos from Pisa coming up soon.
